WHO?
John Doe is an anonymous millionaire Podcast Host/YouTuber. Having been fortunate enough to run and sell a successful business he was able to "retire" shortly before turning 40. I'm going to stop talking in the 3rd person now as it's just weird! So, while the idea of now being able to do whatever I wanted with my life sounded great in theory, in reality there are downsides. I don’t know anyone else in the same position as me, my friends and family all have jobs. My children are in school and so things like going off to travel the world is not really an option, without being a pretty poor father.. So in reality from Monday to Friday while most people are in work or school it’s somewhat isolating to not have be out there involved in regular day to day life.
Thus on one hand this podcast is a somewhat selfish endeavour in that it’s me looking to go out and meet interesting people and have hopefully interesting discussions with them that you will enjoy. But I’m also going to try to make the world a slightly better place at the same time, I’ll come back to that in a minute. Also, because I'm also quite competitive with myself I've set myself the goal of becoming one of the top 10 biggest Podcasts/Youtube channels in the world in the next 3 years. So no pressure then...
WHY?
Now, In terms of why my face is blurred and I’m wearing the hat and sunglasses, I don’t want anyone to know who I am. I go out of my way to make sure that nobody in real life knows anything about my level of success, I don’t drive a fancy car and make sure to do nothing to signal I’m relatively wealthy. And so I’m looking to keep it that way, so even if this channel becomes massively successful (which of course with your help it will!) I would like to stay completely anonymous. And as well as it being something of a gimmick (nearly everyone on YouTube desperately wants to be famous) my pixelated face gets me around the unfortunate reality that a very plain looking bald, bearded man in his 40s does not make for very clickable Youtube thumbnails. My wife has often told me that I would have a lovely voice for radio, which to me is a pretty non subtle way of calling me ugly!
Now, getting back to what makes the John Doe Show different. Because I am in a very fortunate position in life I also want to make this podcast very different than any other ones out there. You see nearly all Youtube channels and podcasts are ultimately attempts at making money. If I’m running a business related podcast I’m ultimately going to try and sell you some course or product. If I’m talking about health and wellness I’m probably going to tell you about how I take Athletic Greens every day and it’s changed my life, while pushing you to buy it and I take a commission.
