WHO?
John Doe is an anonymous Podcast Host/YouTuber. Having been fortunate enough to run and sell a successful business he was able to "retire" shortly before turning 40. I'm going to stop talking in the 3rd person now as it's just weird! So, while in theory I found myself in the enviable position that I could do anything I wanted with my time, the reality was that no longer having to go to work every day has some downsides. If you're not around other people as school/college/work tends to have you, you can start to feel rather isolated. It's no different than if you're unemployed or retired in older age, neither of while are things that most people aspire to, and yet I was basically in the same position. Humans need meaningful activity/spending time with others to avoid going bonkers. So starting this podcast is an excuse for me to push myself out of my comfort zone, to hopefully meet some interesting people and make the world a better place (more on this below). Because I'm also quite competitive with myself I've set myself the goal of becoming one of the top 10 biggest Podcasts/Youtube channels in the world in the next 3 years. So no pressure then...
WHY?
So while from a selfish perspective I'm doing this to get myself back out in the world, I'm hoping to make the world a better place at the same time. I already am lucky to be able to spend time helping people/charities in a volunteer capacity but I'm hoping that I can expand on that here. While nearly all Podcasts/YouTube channels are essentially for profit businesses, I want to do things differently with The John Doe Show. I do not need any more money and so any money that the show ever makes will be spent on making the world a slightly better place. I've not worked out exactly how this will work yet but my first project is planting lots of trees. So to begin with I'm going to buy a large plot of land and start planting as many trees on it as possible. I'll document this as I go and this will hopefully lead on to other bigger and better projects.
